Set Up a Personal Network

Set up a personal network to connect your iOS device to your Mac and transfer files between the two. This will not work for activation of a device as you must be connected to a true internet connection when activating iOS devices.

  1. Click the Network icon, then click Create Network.

    Don't see an option to create a new network? Click here.

  2. Give your network a name, then click Create.

  3. Make sure your network icon now looks like the image below.

  4. On your iOS device, select the network you just created.

  5. Tap Join Anyway.

  6. Make sure your iOS device is connected to your Mac's personal network.
