Record and Upload from the Hudl App

Recording is available on iPad/iPhones. For a list of supported devices, click here.

If your wifi connection is not stable, record with wifi off, and when the recording is complete, upload the video when a stable wifi connection is available.

If you have a schedule entry for the event you're filming, record through Gameday. If you don't have a schedule entry, follow these steps to begin recording.

Record and Upload to an Existing Schedule Entry

  1. Click here to download the Hudl app.

  2. Log in to the Hudl app and tap Gameday.

  3. Find the schedule entry you'd like and tap Record the Game.

    The video will automatically upload with the event's details.

  4. Tap the Record button to begin recording.

  5. Tap the Record button again to pause your recording.

  6. Tap Save and Exit when the game is over.

    Do NOT end the recording until the game is complete. If necessary, pause the recording between matches in volleyball or during time-outs, but do NOT end the recording until the game is complete.

Record and Upload without an Existing Schedule Entry

  1. Click here to download the Hudl app.

  2. Log in to the Hudl app and tap the camera icon to begin recording.

    The Hudl app may ask for access to your device's microphone and camera. You'll need both enabled to record and upload video.

  3. Tap the Record button to start and stop recording.

    If connected to Wi-Fi, you'll see a cloud icon on the screen. Tap that icon to see your uploading progress. The first set of numbers indicates the length of video uploaded, while the second set reflects the total length of recorded video.

  4. Tap Save and Exit when the game is over.

    Do NOT end the recording until the game is complete. If necessary, pause the recording between matches in volleyball or during time-outs, but do NOT end the recording until the game is complete.

  5. Add a title in the provided area.

  6. Select the video type as game, practice or opponent scout.

  7. Tap Event if you’d like to tie your video to a schedule entry.

    This is a voluntary step, you don't have to add your video to a schedule entry.

  8. Choose the event from your schedule.

  9. Tap Done.

  10. To send your video to Hudl Assist, continue to the next step. Tap Done if you're not submitting to Hudl Assist and your video will continue uploading.

  11. Tap Send to Assist.

    This feature is available to iOS devices operating on version 10 or higher.

  12. Add all details such as periods, jersey color, final score and players. Leave a message for your analyst with any important information, including:

    • Distinguishing features to identify players with obstructed jersey numbers
    • Unique game situations or missing video
  13. Tap Send to Assist.
